NRA-TV broadcast summary ...

This summary is prepared by William L. Glover, in the spirit of the
volunteer service to the internet community ... bglover@netcom.com

Background...
NRA-TV is the official NRA TV channel. NRA bills it as the weekly
magazine of news and views for gun owners.

NRA-TV is on Galaxy 7 transponder 20 at 10:00 PM EST, broadcast
weekly on Wednesday. The network that NRA-TV is on is called
NET(National Empowerment TV), the phone number is 800-NET-5555
or 202-544-3200.

The NRA pays NET for the broadcast time to air NRA-TV as an affiliate
broadcaster. The funds for the show come from the NRA/ILA. I my opinion
this is the best thing the NRA has ever done to bring the RKBA out
of the shadows and to the public. Please support the NRA-TV show by
phoning contribution to NRA/ILA at 1-800-392-8683 or mail contributions
to NRA/ILA 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax VA 22030.

NET is a non-profit TV network and will gladly accept donations at
1-800-5000-NET.

AND THEY LISTEN...NRA-TV has an internet e-mail address, NET@NRA.org for
feedback on the show. Drop Mrs. Tanya Metaksa a line with your comments.

INTRODUCTION SEGMENT... Tony Makris ... Waco hearings, day 5. Political
posturing and sleight of hand abounds. Both parties seem guilty of using the
hearings as a political stage instead of search for the facts.

Ginny Simone...Waco day 5. Federal agents claim it didn't happen the
way the Koresh attorneys said it did. But conflicting testimony is all
through the hearings.

Agent Jamar admits that the final attack plane was in place when the
offer to surrender was received by the Koresh attorneys. Jamar said
he did not believe the surrender agreement that Koresh had made.

The Branch Davidians were using 'canons' so says the testimony. When
in fact it was just 223 rifles. When you consider that 61 agents told the
Texas Rangers that the Davidians were aware of the impending first attack,
you wonder why the first attack went forward in the first place. Isn't
there some leadership accountability policy against leading your 'troops'
into a known ambush situation? [Geesh, you would think so, or are the
commanders of these dynamic entry fiascoes really that stupid?]

Tonight's main story: Waco. Tony Makris and Ginny Simone joined by ...
Dave Hardy, Attorney at Law - between the Democrats obfuscation of the
material evidence and the Republican incompetence, nothing appears to
be coming out of the hearings.

Simone: There seemed to be an actual 'plan to destroy the evidence' of
the crime scene.

[In fact the Texas Rangers testified they had voiced their objections
about destroying the crime scene to their higher ups. Nothing became of
their objections.]

Discussion about the lousy testimony, factual omissions and lack of good
questions from the Republican side.

Discussion of bickering and in-fighting between the various federal
agencies and different commanders on the scene during the siege.

Makris:(reciting some of the testimony) we just want to know.

Simone: The tanks were rammed into the building to allow the children
to come out.

Hardy: This is ridiculous. The ramming of the building was destroying the
building, and if anything, the ramming was impeding the ability of the
people inside to exit. The CS gas would have rendered the people incapable
of clear thinking and make it difficult to find ways out. No tear gas mask
fits a small child, so the children were in danger from the start.

- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PHONE CALLS FROM VIEWERS SEGMENT...

Caller:...I just joined the NRA, great magazine, love the show. Can you tell
me how many people died?
Answer:...Simone: The numbers are all over the place. Don't know why.

Caller:...What is coming out is the federal officers had the right to be
there. I believe the BD brought this on themselves.
Answer:...Makris - I think you are right, the BD broke laws, and some laws
the BATF had jurisdiction over. So if you assume Koresh did all this - how
do you cover the children? How do you overlook the precipitous act which
resulted in the deaths of the children that were ostensibly being
protected.

Makris: Brewster asked, what would have been lost by waiting 30 days, or 45
days, just what would have been lost?[IMHO - nothing but a little money]

Hardy: If they had just left them sit there, it is highly likely that
at a minimum a few more people would have been saved.

Simone: McCollum made it clear that there was a lot of dissension among
the people in charge of the final attack.

Makris: Every federal agent says they were there to prevent further loss
of life. All the people died. So tell us, what went wrong, what was the
problem.

Caller:...First I am sorry for the agents who died. But the testimony said
the Davidians were using 'canons'. What were the agents armed with?
Answer:...Makris: If they thought Koresh had 50 cal machine guns, then why
did they have 'only nine mm handguns?

Hardy: They knew Koresh knew they were coming, what moron sent these agents
into the 'ambush'?

Simone: It makes no sense. You just got to wonder what was going on. They
are supposed to be trained to do this.

Makris: They say the BDs had grenades, 50 cal machine guns and a bunch of
full auto weapons, and you go in with nine mm handguns?
[And they knew we were coming - Can you say bad leadership lapse?]

More discussion of why the attack went forward when the surprise element
was lost. The ridiculous aspects of the imbalance of armaments.

Caller:...I think most Americans want an admission of something went wrong.
What do you expect will come out of this.
Answer:...Simone: Just have to wait and see.

Caller:...I have seen some ugly American, but some of these questioners are
the ugliest of the ugly. This Schumer is pushing for a national police
force. Even the Rangers spoke up against this at length. The government is
there to protect the people and their freedoms.
Answer:...no comment.

Hardy: I wonder what the local police would have done? The local police seem
much more interested in making arrests instead of doing the 'dynamic entry'.
There is a lot of difference between training for assaults and training to
make arrests. It is troublesome the feds, and the BATF in particular, had
the mind set of assault rather than arrest in the BD case.

Simone: The people calling in are saying - please tell us what happened.
Tell us the truth.

Makris: I will say it a again. Why did all those children have to die. Why?

Caller:...Why is the majority on the hearing committee not cutting through
the baloney and getting to the facts? In particular, the child abuse is not
BATF related jurisdiction.
Answer:...Simone: If the reason the BATF went in was the children there is a
jurisdiction problem.

Caller:...My husband is from the Army and the tear gas CS is not normal
tear gas. CN is normal tear gas, do you know what was used?
Answer:...Makris: Your description is right, CS was used and is a very
strong tear gas.

Hardy: CS breaks down into ammonia when it combines with moisture, like
in the lungs, and it causes violent choking symptoms. It can inflict
chemical pneumonia.

Simone: The LA officer testified that he had used CS over 100 times, and it
doesn't kill. But the follow up question, have you used CS on children he
answered no.[But later he was forced to admit, it had never been used on
children or infants.]

Caller:...I still have not seen a real accounting of, or factual evidence
relating to, the guns found. I did see the news footage and the agents
had AR-15s and what looked like MP5s as well as pistols. They were well
armed from what I saw, and not 'under gunned' as stated.
Answer:...Hardy: Some of the BATF sniper back ups had AR15s.

Caller:...I agree, Koresh was a bad guy and should be arrested.
But, I think the issue of illegal arms is important. I hear of the
50 cal machine guns, but I have seen no evidence.
Answer:...Makris: The BATF is not going to let anyone look at the guns,
so you are just going to have to take their word for it.

Hardy: The BD did have at least one 50 cal Barret[semi-auto 5 shot clip,
I saw the photo]

Caller:...I expect the liberal media to rename the BATF, alcohol, tobacco,
firearms and child abuse agency. But child abuse is a state issue.
Answer:...Simone: True.

Hardy: The reason the BATF wanted to be the lead agency is that it was to
be a major headline operation to help get more funding.

Makris: This is kind of shocking.

Hardy: I asked when the BATF appropriations was coming up and I finally
got the answer, it was 9 days after the first raid. They got 4 agents
killed over this. The whole thing looked like a show.

Caller:...I hear the NRA is help staff the hearings. What is the NRA doing?
Answer:...We provided written information to the hearing committee. There
is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone or any person writing to the hearing
committee, or to any member of congress on any matter. It is
Constitutionally proper to petition Congress on any topic.

Makris: All you have to do is look at the Thomas and Bork hearings to see
the left doing this.

Caller:...I got a whiff of CS gas at a demo and it is awful stuff. I saw
the original clip of the roof attack and saw the agent get up after the roof
shooting, but when you see it now, you see only the apparent wounding of the
agent then the TV news stops, leaving an impression which is not correct.
Answer:...Makris: Yes, I have seen the full video clip and it shows the
agent getting up and retreating - apparently unhurt.

[I have an original news footage tape, and saw it on the satellite in it's
entirety recently - after the bullets came through the wall, he did get up
scamper down the ladder, and he did run back to cover. Classic example of TV
footage edited tight to tell the public "all they need to know."]

More discussions, summarizing what went on so far at the hearings.

End show...

Back to watching the hearings - if you can find them.

Being a citizen is a full-time job. If we wish to reclaim our rights,
we first must begin by reclaiming our responsibilities.

More News and Comment:
Waco is the topic of the week, except for the OJ infatuated liberal media,
who are doing their 'liberal best' to spike the Waco story.

IMHO - none of this had to happen. Proper law enforcement actions would
have prevented this fiasco.

Treasury Secretary Bentsen apparently didn't know about the raid until
after it occurred, while the Davidians knew about it before it started.

The Waco hearings are producing a picture of careless, reckless and
unaccountable federal law enforcement activity. No matter what Koresh or
any other adult did, the children that died in the fire precipitated by the
final federal attack, were guilty of nothing. Children cannot form criminal
intent. Where is the accoutability for this fiasco?

Question; Why did the Attorney General deny the approval of the final
attack plan on April 16 and then approve it on April 17? Who intervened?

All I want to know is what happened at Waco.
