NRA-TV is the official NRA TV channel. NRA bills it as the weekly magazine of news and views for gun owners. NRA-TV is on Galaxy 7 transponder 20 at 10:00 PM EST, broadcast weekly on Wednesday. The network that NRA-TV is on is called NET(National Empowerment TV), the phone number is 800-5000-NET. NET is a non-profit TV channel and will gladly accept donations at the above phone number. AND THEY LISTEN...they have a new internet e-mail account, NET@NRA.org for feedback on the show. My editorial comments are in brackets[]. This is a summary report, not a verbatum transcription. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRODUCTION SEGMENT... Tonight's main story: BATF ABUSES IN BILL CLINTON'S AMERICA...an alarming trend in 1995. News desk: CCW is still THE hot issue, major victories throughout the nation. Virginia passed a law last week, despite a plea to the governor by Bill Brady. Arkansas passed a similar CCW law this week. Texas committee passed CCW reform, but still a long way to go. Oklahoma Senate passed CCW. NRA running full page adds in Newspapers about BATF abuses. Washington Post was run Wednesday, more later this week. [Showed the add copy. Caption read "Tell the Clinton White House to stay out of your house". Photo was of the usual toy ninja types holding MP5s.] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEWS SEGMENT...Ginny Simone, Special Correspondent An NRA investigation...by Ginny Simone Gun show promoter...firearms dealer, Harry Lamplugh and wife Terry held captive by ATF May 25 Wellsboro Penn. [scary video clip, made you wonder what would you do under these circumstances.] Early morning raid 7:45 AM. Men everywhere with guns rushed in all the doors. Saw the vests with ATF on the front. Shoved MP5s in their face. [Now we know what they wanted the 'assault carbines' for, they make great intimidators] Told they were not under arrest, but the ATF ransacked the house. [Video showed they broke up the house real thoroughly] Seized jewelry, money, papers, anything of value. Held for 6 hours at gun point. Took all his gun show mail lists and gun show exhibitor lists. Took more than 70,000 names and addresses. Many of the ones on the list have been visited. Don't do any business with Harry or else was the ATF's message. One cat died in the debris of the house search, the other was kicked and stomped to deaf.[graphic tale of this by the Lamplughs] ATF had lunch in his house and made a mess of the house. ATF said the Lamplugh's trashed their house and made up the story. ATF said Harry Lamplugh is a convicted felon...although he has no record. The Lamplugh's still don't know what the charges are, they had been arrested for nothing. Terry said it was like the Gestapo raiding them. They think this is part of the Clinton hidden agenda to eliminate gun shows nationwide. ATF tried to get Terry to state Harry was selling guns illegally. She wouldn't do it. ATF agent threatened to kill her if she told about the incident. ATF seized 61 firearms, all legal, and proceeded to auction them off as forfeiture material without telling the Lamplughs the guns were being sold. They saw the add in the newspaper and acted to retrieve their property. NRA-TV showed the ad in USA today. ATF refused to be interviewed by NRA-TV, saying the investigation was on-going. ATF sent NRA-TV a statement saying Harry was a felon. The indictment/affidavit was sealed so the Lamplugh's could not see it. [Where have we heard this before?Is it a pattern?Does Waco come to mind?] Harry hauled before a grand jury to be finger printed with witnesses. [wouldn't they already have his finger prints if he was a felon?] NRA-TV has tried repeatedly to get the facts from the ATF side and have been told the records are sealed. The court has turned down requests for information, what the search was for, charges filed, warrant etc. Nothing was allowed to be seen. NRA-TV stated again they tried over and over to get the ATF side and have been refused interviews repeatedly. [Story took 20 minutes of video, interviews and voice over. Scary stuff. This was deliberate citizen intimidation and harassment, not an accident. Ought to make good viewing in a congressional hearing room.] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN STORY SEGMENT...Tony Makris, interview with... Tanya Metaksa, Ginny Simone discussion. [Lot's more discussion of the Lamplugh video.] Makris: Sobering interview. I am sure that a lot of people are saying this isn't true. Simone: Might be, but if only a small part is true. Why is everything hush, hush? Court is not responding to the information requests. The ATF is sealing motions for information request[bizarre, why can't the request motions be made public]. [Lot's more discussion of the Lamplugh video.] Makris: Tanya, want to thank you and Wayne for the NRA having the courage to run the Washington Post add. Today we talked to Senator Dole about hearings and he was also receptive. [Lot's more discussion of the Lamplugh video.] Makris: Weaver case won't go away. Weaver was the "white separatist" from Idaho who had his son and wife shot by the FBI. Court reports cite that while his dead wife was laying on the floor of his cabin the FBI loud speakers were blasting: "Mrs. Weaver we had pancakes for breakfast, what did you have?" He said this is from the court transcripts. Makris: Why haven't we heard about this in the national media? Makris: Rodney King was... Convicted felon. Alluding police. resisting arrest. Crime was police beat him with night sticks for 19 seconds. Makris: Compare Weaver to Rodney King...and how the police were treated compared to what has happened to the FBI agents that attacked the Weaver cabin. Doesn't add up does it.[NRA is going after this in a BIG way] Note the officers who beat King are in jail, even though King was a felon. Weaver was acquitted[not the same as found 'not guilty'] of all charges. Senator Craig of Idaho is pursuing this as well. Metaksa mentioned these other cases... ATF raided a house shot a woman 4 times. She was still in the hospital when the agents were already back on the job. ATF raided a house and woman miscarried. Suspect was acquitted of charges. Suit has been filed. [More vivid roundtable discussions] Makris: NRA is a pro-police organization. Has been for a long time, and will continue to be. Simone: Lamplugh case, ATF came in without a warrant. Presented them with one later in the day. Metaksa: CCW hearings in Virginia had police testifying FOR CCW. Rank and file police were denied CCW permits. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- PHONE CALLS FROM VIEWERS SEGMENT...Tanya Metaksa taking calls Caller:...Secret Service showed up at his door to ask him 'some questions' that he knew nothing about. He is a from Tampa Fl. He had been accused of threatening Hillary Clinton. He is a journalist who has been writing on Clinton. He can't get the records of who filed the charges. A pattern is showing up. Story he wrote was about Hillary funding a terrorist group in El Salvador.[This has been around awhile, he claimed to be the source] Answer:...no comment NRA will follow up, it looks like a pattern. Caller:...CCW in Missouri is being considered. What is going on? Answer:...Yes it is but not much moving yet. Stay tuned. Caller:...CCW in Ohio, who do we need to contact to coordinate? Answer:...State legislators are the ones to call. Judiciary as well but your legislature representatives are key. Makris: Phones are ringing off the hook.[wonder why?] Caller:...Congresswoman Helen Chenoweth(R-ID) is on the task force. She is doing a very good job for Idaho. BLM in CA is restricting firearms to include 'rubber guns and slingshots'[heard this, comment period is open]. Will send in the article to the NRA. Answer:...No comment. Caller:...Has the NRA ever investigated the ATF agents? Answer:...Not the NRA's area of expertise. Have no way of doing this. Caller:...What is NRA Congressional agenda for dealing with the rogue agency called the ATF? Answer:...Congressman Istook (R-OK)got into the ATF computerizing the records of out of business firearms dealers. Every appropriations bill has had language prohibiting this action since it was passed. Hasn't done any good it would appear. He will be following up with the full committee. Caller:...If the ATF comes to my door what do I do? What can I do to get rid of the Firearms ID card in Indiana? Answer:...Be very careful[In CA a fellow answered the door at dawn one morning with a gun, it was the cops, told him to drop the gun, HE DID, then the cop shot him. He is suing the San Jose CA Police Department.] Caller:...If we sit back and let the NRA fight the battles we will never turn this around. I am a council woman and when I hold a hearing, hardly no one shows up. Answer:...Folks we got to get involved, every one of us. These are the people who will set up what is to be investigated, what kinds of hearings may be set up etc. Call the committee members if you want to have input into what is covered. Firearms Legislation Task Force: Chaired by Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.), was appointed by Speaker Newt Gingrich and CrimeSubcommittee Chairman Bill McCollum (R-Fla.) as a result of a meeting between NRA leaders and the entire House Republican leadership two weeks ago. Other members are Republican Reps: Roscoe Bartlett (Md.) Ed Bryant (Tenn.), Helen Chenoweth (Idaho) Fred Heineman (N.C.) Steve Stockman (Tex.) Firearms hearings are supposed to begin in HoR in May 1995.
