Newark, California:

Due to flooding in the area, a large turnout (more than 40 NRA
members and FFL holders) at the January 10th Planning Commission
meeting and an overwhelming number of calls placed to the members
of the Planning Commission by concerned gun owners, the Commission
delayed any action on a proposed zoning ordinance that would ban
the sale and repair of firearms in the home by licensed dealers and
block the opening of any new establishments engaged in the retail
sale of firearms within the city.

The next Planning Commission meeting scheduled to address this
issue will be on February 21. NRA-ILA staff and FFL holders will
meet with Planning Commission members in late January to try to
halt any further action. Stay tuned!

Fresno, California:

Next week, the Fresno City Council will hold discussions on
right-to-carry reform that would amend the city code to allow more
law-abiding citizens to legally carry firearms for personal
protection. Reform in Fresno will help promote similar action in
other localities.

Take steps to save your fundamental right to self-protection
in California. Attend the City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, January 17, in the Council Chambers on the second floor of
City Hall (located on P between Fresno and Tulare Streets.) Also,
contact your councilperson at (209) 498-1560 and urge him or her to
support this much-needed reform. You may also fax a letter of
support to your councilperson at (209) 237-4010.

Don't let this opportunity to institute pro-Second Amendment
reform at the local level pass you by. For more information,
contact the NRA Sacramento office at (916) 446-2455 or local
volunteer Lynn Weeks at (209) 237-2597.

Pasadena, California:

On Monday, January 23, the Pasadena City Council is
tentatively scheduled to consider an ordinance that would establish
a registration and fingerprinting scheme for all prospective
purchasers of ammunition. If this ordinance passes, the gun
control crowd will gain momentum and you can expect them introduce
similar measures in other localities.

The City Council meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. on Monday,
January 23, at Pasadena City Hall, located at 100 N. Garfield
Avenue. HOWEVER, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE PASADENA GUN CONTROL TASK
FORCE MAY PULL THIS ITEM OFF THE JAN. 23 AGENDA. For the lastest
information and to learn how you can help stop this ordinance, call
Joel Freidman at (818) 793-3701 or the NRA California Office at
(916) 446-2455.
