For Immediate Release Call Tom Wyld, NRA Public Affairs April 12, 1994 (703-267-3820) NRA Chief Lobbyist Greets Roberti at 1 PM in Van Nuys Today! Van Nuys, Calif. -- The chief lobbyist of the NRA will be on hand in the vicinity of 14151 Haynes Street in Van Nuys where Senator David Roberti is due to cast his vote at 1 pm. "For too long, Senator Roberti has blamed his problems on what he calls NRA bully-boys,'" said NRA chief lobbyist Mrs. Tanya Metaksa. "I am in California -- in Roberti's own district -- to tell him that his problem is his record, his challengers are hi s constituents -- and I am neither bully nor boy." The NRA's chief lobbyist's visit to Roberti's district is two-fold: explain NRA's involvement and thank NRA members. "Our members are the very constituents of Senator Roberti who helped build the coalition that is bringing him down. These members felt strongly enough to canvass their neighborhoods to amass the tens of thousands of signatures it takes to force this election. To Roberti and countless other politicians, that relentless commitment, win or lose, sends a clear signal: when politicians tu rn on voters instead of criminals, the voters won't stop fighting back until they win." Later this evening, Mrs. Metaksa will attend an election night party held by the Coalition to Restore Government Integrity -- the diverse group of citizens in Roberti's district who worked for his recall. The Coalition has made the election night party open to the press. For details, call Kevin Washburn at the Coalition (818-376-6745). ------------------------------------------------------------------ MEDIA ADVISORY FOR INFORMATION CONTACT: April 11, 1994 Tom Wyld 703-267-3820 NRA TO "WEAR WITH PRIDE" ITS ROLE IN ROBERTI RECALL National lobbyist to be in Roberti's district on Election Day (WASHINGTON) -- "On election day, Mr. Roberti will see who he's been running against," said Tanya Metaksa, chief lobbyist for the National Rifle Association of America.
