California News:

On Tuesday, August 23, the Assembly Ways & Means Committee
will consider Senate Bill X46, Sen. Roberti's extension of the
state's ban on semi-automatic firearms to include generic
description ban language contained in the federal crime bill. It
is essential that you contact all members of the committee and urge
them to oppose SB X46. You can find a complete listing of members
and their phone numbers in this month's issue of the NRA magazines.
Of particular importance are these three members of the committee:

Valerie Brown (AD 07) (916) 445-8492
Tom Hannigan (AD 08) (916) 445-8368
Bob Campbell (AD 11) (916) 445-7890

Also, Assembly Bill 1818 (Gotch) requiring that all
semiautomatic pistols made in California be equipped with a loaded
chamber indicator, is currently on the Senate floor and could come
up for a vote any day. Please contact your State Senator and urge
him/her to oppose this measure.
