This is the first time in 80 years that a State Legislator has had to face the voters in such an election. If he does not receive a simple majority of the vote, he will be removed IMMEDIATELY from his seat in the Senate. His replacement will be chosen from candidates listed on another part of the ballot (winner-take-all) and be sworn in the next day.
