NRA-ILA anticipates shortly having a complete copy of the 1200
page Crime Bill which was reported out of the Conference Committee
last week, but the available draft copies show it to be big spending
legislation which will do nothing to reduce crime in America.

The gun ban portion appears to be nearly identical to the House
passed HR 4296 EXCEPT that all record keeping requirements have been
removed.

Please see other postings for two editorials which discuss the other
objectionable parts of this legislation. Members are urged to
contact their Representatives and Senators and urge them to oppose
this bill on the basis of the huge pork programs as well as the
anti-gun/anti-freedom gun ban.

This 30.2 billion dollar (pork filled) Crime Bill is expected to be
voted on by the US House on Wednesday August 3, 1994. It is
important that everyone contact their Representative and ask that
they vote against the Rule. A vote on the Rule is a procedural vote.
If the rule is NOT adopted the Crime Bill will probably be sent back
to Conference for further negotiations.

If the Rule is voted favorably then there will be a vote on the
Conference version of the Crime Bill. Also request that your
representative vote against the Crime Bill itself.

Please call your two US Senators and ask that they support a
filibuster against the Crime Bill as well as voting against the Crime
Bill.
