This bill would have prohibited all but law enforcement officers from purchasing more than one handgun during a thirty-day period. HCI was out in force on this bill and it should be viewed as a major defeat for the anti-gunners. Also, it is likely that Sen. Roberti will try to move SB 46X - - the state version of the Feinstein/Schumer gun ban -- within the next couple of days. California: Yesterday, the State Senate rejected Senate Bill 1277 (sponsored by Sen. Hart) on a 21-14 vote. This is the Virginia- style one-gun-a-month bill. AB 1818 (Gotch) is now set to be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, June 28. The bill would require that all semi-automatic handguns built in California be equipped with a loaded chamber indicator. AB X37 (W. Brown & Burton) will be brought up on the Assembly floor for a vote within the next couple of weeks. This bill would overturn the state firearms preemption law prohibiting local municipalities from enacting gun control ordinances. Call your Assemblyperson and urge him or her to vote against this measure.
