August 10, Update:

Once again, the expected vote on the Rule in the House for the Crime
Bill has been delayed. The vote on the Rule is now expected to occur
tomorrow. A vote on the Rule is a procedural vote. If the rule is
NOT adopted, the Crime Bill will be sent back to Conference for
further negotiations.

The Clinton Administration, Charles Schumer, and all supporters of
this Crime Bill are using the delays to mount enormous pressure on
Democrats and Republicans alike to vote for this legislation!

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL MEMBERS AND GUN OWNERS CONTACT THEIR
REPRESENTATIVES AT LEAST ONE MORE TIME BETWEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW
AND URGE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THE RULE AND THE CRIME BILL ITSELF!

Also please do not forget to contact your Senators. Please be sure
to tell your Senators to oppose the Crime Bill and to support a
filibuster of the Crime Bill if one should occur.

This 1200 page Crime Bill which was reported out of the Conference
Committee last week is big spending legislation which will do nothing
to reduce crime in America.

The gun ban portion appears to be nearly identical to the House
passed HR 4296 EXCEPT that all record keeping requirements have been
removed.

Members are urged to contact their Representatives and Senators and
urge them to oppose this bill on the basis of the huge pork programs
as well as the anti-gun/anti-freedom gun ban.
