To: letters@sjmercury.com Subject: Down with Davis! From: webmaster@rkba.org The Editors complain in August 9th's "Do it my way!" that Governor Davis does not pass enough of his own's party's myriad and sundry legislation. At the same time they invoke the concept of checks and balances as a reason lawmakers should not simply send up laws that conform to his agenda. "He showed political courage in signing a strong assault weapons ban. He knows Sacramento like the back of his hand, and he's far too savvy to confuse the governor's office with a maniacal monarchy." "Having a moderate governor and a Legislature led by the same party presents a golden opportunity for California. Finally, we could break out of the political paralysis that Pete Wilson presided over for eight years, and start solving problems."
