This directory contains version 1.4 of PC Eudora, a WinSockAPI 1.1 compliant POP3/SMTP mail client. You must get the WINSOCK.DLL file from your TCP/IP stack vendor (for most TCP/IP packages, the WINSOCK.DLL will come along with your distribution diskettes). Please don't try to use a WINSOCK.DLL file from a TCP/IP stack that you don't have, and don't try to rename a file that looks like WINSOCK.DLL (e.g. WSOCKET.DLL) to WINSOCK.DLL -- it won't work! The file eudora14.exe is a self-extracting archive. Just run it and it will unpack several files, one of which is README.TXT, which I STRONGLY suggest that you read before trying to run PC Eudora. PC Eudora has been tested with the following stacks (mostly by other people): Trumpet WinSock (shareware) (available from biochemistry.cwru.edu or ftp.utas.edu.au) FTP Software PC/TCP (version 2.1 or higher) (WINSOCK.DLL available from vax.ftp.com:/pub/winsockapi/FTPSoftware) Distinct TCP Frontier Super-TCP IBM TCP/IP NetManage Chameleon Sun PC-NFS 5.0 (There is a bug with PC-NFS with NIS turned on. Get the patch file wshelper.patch.mail via anonymous ftp from bcm.tmc.edu, src.doc.ic.ac.uk, or ftpserver.massey.ac.nz) Novell LAN WorkPlace (WINSOCK.DLL available from ftp.novell.com:/pub/lanworkplace/lwp4dos/WinSock) Beam & Whiteside TCP/IP Lanera TCPOpen (set TCP Send Window Size to 16 or greater) Artisoft LANtastic TCP/IP Wollongong Pathway
