Larry Pratt, GOA on NET 1/25/95 comments on the Presidents state of the
union speech.

Opening remark...
We need to make sure the president understands how many of the members
which are left will be added to the tally in 1996. Pratt said the president
acknowledges 21 house defeats due to the gun ban, but the number is likely
far higher. (21 is a huge number to attribute to a single issue group IMHO)

Call in discussions...
Went over the terminology and how the media has now got us full circle.
First it was assault-style weapons, now it is just assault weapons, the
select fire version. STOP USING THIS TERM, USE 'GUN BAN' INSTEAD. This is
exactly how the media win the arguments.

Violent crimes and lies...in CA they had an attempt to put in a separate
category of crime that was committed with the CA banned gun and found it
was much less than 1% so the plan was scrapped. Just lying was easier than
reporting the facts. The facts likely would not have worked in getting the
CA ban passed as the numbers were SO LOW.

Posse Comitatus law prohibits US military from being used in civilian cases.
WACO tapes show the military was used, need for hearings/oversight is obvious.

<<< IMPORTANT ONE >>>
Republican leadership wants to do away with the new Omnibus crime bill and make
seven bills out of the provisions and send each one through congress separately.
The gun ban repeal will be a separate bill. This is bad. He relayed that some
president staffers were overheard saying the president may NOT actually
veto a repeal. Especially if it is "packaged".

Why is it only a "bad gun" when the citizen owns one, but not when the
government or police use the same gun. Think about it.

GOA looking for sponsor for repeal of Brady law. So far no takers.

Stockman and Bartlett are taking the lead on repeal of Gun Ban.
(Others may have noted that many democrats have also have a bill to
repeal the gun ban, but GOA is pushing the Stockman/Bartlett bill)

GOA working on getting a bill together to require the federal government to
require the sheriffs approval before a federal warrant can be served. Prevent
WACO re-occurrences is the reason.

The above is loosely transscribed from the Captial Watch program on the NET
network. Pratt was on for about 1/2 hour taking calls and dicussing issues.

Why does Bill Clinton's Bill of Rights only apply to one class?
