(CRPA). This is a transcript from a broadcast made on the "It's not about Guns,. . .It's about Freedom" radio show on KIEV 870 A.M. (Glendale, CA). Broadcasted each Tuesday night from 8:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. Typing errors are my own. ***********Beginning of Article******* Good evening, this is Gerald Upholt, Manager of Governmental Affairs for the California Rifle and Pistol Association with answers to some of the questions most frequently asked about state firearms laws. ******* Many CRPA members have asked how rifles, shotguns and ammunition can legally be transported in a motor vehicle under state law. Rifles and shotguns can be carried either openly or concealed within a motor vehicle as long as they are not loaded. However, rifles and shotguns on the list of restricted "assault weapons" must be transported in a motor vehicle in the same manner as that required for transporting handguns. These must be transported locked in the vehicle's trunk or in a separate locked container other than the vehicle's glove box or console. There is no prohibition in the State Codes against also carrying ammunition within the same motor vehicle or within the same compartment of a motor vehicle, as long as the ammunition is not attached in any manner to the firearm. *********** Please tune in next week for another topic of interest to California owners of firearms. To find out more about the California Rifle and Pistol Association, call (800) 305-CRPA, that's (800) 305-CRPA. ***************End of article******** By the way, The people in the Fullerton, CA office of the CRPA deserve a pat on the back for making this update available for posting on the internet.
