I am also sorry to post this type of message to this list, however, I believe it is important enough *and* I need to notify other lawyers, *and* it is only my second posting to this list. So there it is. The "Government Law Section" of the LACBA is conducting a seminar at noon this Friday (January 26) re: how to enact gun control laws on a local level. The panel consists of HCI's local rep. Sandy Cooney and a Councilman from West Hollywood, which recently enacted a so-called "Saturday Night Special" ban. The moderator is a well-known anti-gun attorney from West Hollywood as well. Of course, there are *no* pro-gun attorneys, scholars or representatives on the panel. The Lawyer's Second Amendment Society, which is headquartered in LA, is requesting all lawyers in the area to try to make the meeting...so we can present the other side of the "discussion." It's at the LACBA building, 617 S. Olive St., LA, 4th Floor. It's not cheap -- non-LACBA members pay $40, but that includes lunch, and you get 1 hour of MCLE credit. Call the LSAS at (818) 734-3066 for more info. (BTW, The LSAS's snail mail address is: 18034 Ventura Bl., No. 329, Encino, CA 91316) Steve Silver Founding Member and Vice President, The Lawyer's Second Amendment Society
