Subject: Pro-gun Northwestern University study

A 31-page study that was released on 10/30/95 uses Chicago's
gun law to make the case against gun control.

The study was done by Northwestern University law professor
Daniel Polsby and Harper College professor Dennis Brennon.

It finds that 20,000 gun control laws nationwide have no effect
on violent crime and the theory that guns cause crime is wrong.

The study also finds that the number of murders in Chicago
has risen and fallen between 1965 and 1992, regardless of the
city's handgun ban that was approved in 1982.
