Anyone wishing a copy of this most informative report should call 1-800-732-3277 and request report NCJ-148201. While the report contained a wealth of information on firearms, I will confine myself to a discussion of "assault rifles", that I hope will convince people that the "assault rifles cause crime " is one of the cruelest hoaxes every perpetrated by a government upon its people. According to the report, Philadelphia logged 204 homicides in 1990. All the victims were dispatched with handguns. In not a single case was a rifle used, much less and "assault rifle". Of 687 law enforcement officers killed between 1982 and 1993, 4.4% were killed with .22 caliber rifles. To my knowledge, the "ban assault rifle" crowed has not yet designated any .22 caliber rifle as been an assault rifle. The largest number of law enforcement officers 25.2% were slain with .38 caliber revolvers.
