She won by 27 votes. The NRA made the difference. *** SB 1128, AB 1333 and AB X37 *** They did not come up for a vote today. Senator Hayden announced that it`s a 20-20 tie for AB 1333 and he's looking for the 21st vote. Keep up the pressure on all these bills. *** NEXT WEEK'S CALENDAR *** Assembly Public Safety - TUESDAY, April 19, 1994 AB 2449 (Alpert) - Would require a license for the retail sale of ammunition. AB 2546 (Polanco) - Would require the registration and licensing of ammunition AND a serial number for all bullets and cases. AB 2865 (Lee) - Would repeal state preemption for firearms laws. AB 3210 (T. Friedman) - Would impose a $200 tax on all handguns and many other horrible requirements. AB 3382 (Bowen) - Would allow law enforcement to seize all firearms from someone who was the subject of a restraining order. *** RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL *** Last week, hundreds of NRA members called, wrote letters and attended the City Council meeting where they were to consider supporting the Feinstein "gun ban" and repeal of state preemption. A majority of the City Council voted against the resolution and it failed. *** MEDIA BIAS - GUN RIGHTS UNDER ATTACK *** During the week of April 25th, CBS and FOX will air from 8 to 9 p.m. a one-hour commercial-free television show called "Kids Killing Kids". The program is about four fictional juveniles using guns. In each case, obviously, there is a terribly tragic consequence. Be prepared to call your local TV stations as well as talk radio shows and write to your local paper to complain about media bias. Suggest that future shows should be objective and balanced. ====================================================================== -- ************************************************************ * Ron Phillips crphilli@hound.edaca.ingr.com * * Senior Customer Engineer * * Intergraph Electronics * * 381 East Evelyn Avenue VOICE: (415) 691-6473 * * Mountain View, CA 94041 FAX: (415) 691-0350 * ************************************************************
