Here's a letter I just faxed to KGO, KPIX & KTVU, the three major San Francisco Bay Area TV stations that gave coverage to the HCI march. The fairness doctrine is gone so the stations are not required by law to give equal time, but the concept is clear & the complaints to the FCC & stations public files get attention because they hurt. KTVU (Fox) gave 4 minutes, KPIX (CBS) gave 5 minutes, KGO (ABC) 20 seconds. Carbon copies of each letter went to FCC. The march was organized by Handgun Control Incorporated. I demand in the name of fairness that you give equal time our grassroots state rally in Sacramento July 2nd. Attached on the next page is a press release for the rally. Below is the text of a PSA I wrote, which runs about 35 seconds and gives the sense of our event: On Saturday July Second, there will be a rally on the steps of the State Capitol in support of Second Amendment rights. The rally is being organized by grassroots citizens from throughout the state, without the aid of any national organizations, to protest recent legislation which infringes on constitutional arms rights. Legislators, recent candidates for political office, and scholars will begin speaking at One p.m. on the West steps of the State Capitol. Please show your support for the Bill of Rights by attending Saturday, July Second in Sacramento. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, Jeff Chan __ [actual press release was double spaced, "-30-" means "end" to journalists.
