Dear Attorney General Reno: We would appreciate your help in verifying and clarifying some reports we have heard recently concerning military training of federal law enforcement personnel. Is such training being given to federal law enforcement agencies? In particular, have there been such training activities by Joint Task Force Six, headquartered at Fort Bliss, Texas? If the answer to either question is yes, we would like a detailed description of these training activities, including: who authorized the training, how participants were chosen, who they were, why the training was given, what skills or information were covered and what authority supports the legality of such training. You are doubtless aware of the concerns being raised in many quarters about what is perceived as the growing militarization of our domestic law enforcement agencies. Your assistance in providing this information would help to respond to these concerns both inside and outside Congress. Thank you for your earliest possible attention to this request. Sincerely, Larry E. Craig Lauch Faircloth United States Senator United States Senator -- This information is presented as a service to the Internet community by the NRA/ILA.
