[This file can be found as "how" in my ftp directory.] To get files from my ftp directory: ftp rkba.org (or ftp 206.86.186.123) [give "anonymous" as your login, then give your login e.g. "joe@host.com" (not your password) as password.] Name: anonymous Password: joe@host.com [help or rhelp for help in ftp] cd public_html ls or dir -- to see the files get or mget -- to get files bye -- to disconnect & exit ftp Note: before transferring binary files like .zip files, programs, and any files with non-printing characters like Windows documents, be sure to give the command "bin" to ftp. This puts ftp in binary mode so that the files are correctly transferred. Before transferring plain text files, give the command "asc" to put ftp in ascii mode. (If you transfer text files in ASCII mode, cr/lf combinations at end of lines will be automatically translated into your native (plain) text format.) If you're on an IP connection and you don't have firewalls, you should be able to ftp out. If blocked, you may want to ask your Internet administrator if there is a site in your domain that you can ftp out from. If you only have email and don't have ftp access, let me know. I've tried some mail-to-ftp servers and they seem to work (if slowly). Jeff C. P.S. If you have access to a World Wide Web (WWW) browser like Mosaic, Netscape or Lynx, consider using it instead of plain ftp; it's an easier interface. The WWW URL for my archive is: http://rkba.org/
