IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES January 4, 1995 Mr. Deutsch (for himself, Mr. Lantos, Mr. Meehan, and Mr. Pallone) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A BILL To amend title 18, United States Code, to regulate the manufacture, importation, and sale of polymer plastic ammunition. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the `Law Enforcement Officials Protection Act of 1995'. SEC. 2. DEFINITION OF ARMOR PIERCING AMMUNITION EXPANDED TO INCLUDE POLYMER PLASTIC AMMUNITION. (a) In General: Section 921(a)(17)(B) of title 18, United States Code, is amended-- (1) by striking `or' at the end of clause (i); and (2) by redesignating clause (ii) as clause (iii) and inserting after clause (i) the following: `(ii) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a firearm and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from polymer plastic; or'. (b) Effective Date: The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to conduct engaged in after the 30-day period that begins with the date of the enactment of this Act. -- Todd N.
