	Killer Bill Introduced in Congress

"In April, U.S. Representative Bob Barr (R-GA), head of Speaker Gingrich's 
Firearms Task Force, introduced the 'Citizens' Protection from Violent Crime
Act of 1995', which the gun lobby will use to attempt to repeal the assault
weapons ban.  The measure, HR 1488, not only calls for a complete repeal
of the ban on deadly assault weapons, it also includes a provision which
jeopardizes all state and local waiting periods, safe storage laws, and
firearm licensing requirements by allowing individuals to bring suit against
those public safety laws if they believe the laws prevent them from
defending themselves."

The article goes on to talk about "staged hearings" by pro-gun forces,
accuses one witness of being "less than truthful", and urges members to
contact their legislators, especially in the Senate.

"We don't neeed to put assault weapon makers back into the business of
producing these killing machines.  Too many lives have been lost already
to drive-by shooters, drug dealers and gang leaders armed with these 
weapons of war."
