From: bglover@netcom.com (William Glover) Subject: 60 Minutes, Fienstien transcription To: firearms-alert@shell.portal.com Date: Mon, 6 Feb 1995 11:28:03 -0800 (PST) OK, OK, enough mail...I went back to the tape of the show I got off satellite. It was the show I saw, but sometimes, the feed does not match the over-the-air version. The sat feed usually has more info. Here is a verbatum, as best I could do it, transcript of the most chilling part of CBS's 60 minutes interview with Fienstien. Suggest all read and re-read this very carefully. This clip was after the discussion of how manufacturers are skirting the gun ban by changing the "cosmetics of the guns". There was some dicussion of the PC AR-15 from Colt, and the new TEC AB-10(after ban -10) showing how the guns are the same, but a cosmetic feature is changed, and sales continue. Announcer... "She says she got the best she could." Fienstien... "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an OUTRIGHT BAN, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in, I would have done that. I could not do that, the votes weren't there." Announcer... "But, are you worried that it got watered down so much that it lost it's effectiveness?" Fienstien... "But, let me tell you, there is a very potent part of the legislation. It is the ban on the manufacture and SALE(?) of clips holding more than 10 bullets." Announcer...goes on with showing tables full of mags at a gun show.... Ask yourself this question: What happens if Mr. and Mrs. America doesn't "turn them all in". By reading the above statements, think about these: 1. What she is expousinbg is a totalitarian gun CONFISCATON. 2. What happens if the Democrats re-gain control of congress. Note the part about votes, its all NUMBERS folks. Don't vote, we all loose. Discussion elsewhere. Bill __ From: mwilliam@dekalb.DC.PeachNet.EDU (Michael A Williams) Newsgroups: rec.guns Subject: [POLITICS] Senator Feinstein on 60 Minutes Date: 6 Feb 1995 12:05:40 -0500 Organization: DeKalb College Message-ID: <3h5gh5$bo3@dekalb.DC.PeachNet.EDU> On the 60 Minutes edition aired on Sunday, February 5, 1995, Senator Diane Feinstein had the following to say concerning the banning of semi-automatic firearms: "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out-right ban--picking up everyone of them, Mr. and Mrs. America turn them in--I would have done it." It seems Feinstein's agenda is pretty clear: She wants everyone's guns--even "Mr. and Mrs. America", you and me, the law-abiding citizens of this nation. She never mentions criminals in her statement, just Mr. and Mrs. America. I hope this statement comes back to haunt her when she comes up for re-election. Let's make sure it does. Copy it, pass it around, post it everywhere. Let her eat her words. She claims she is not a radical anti-gunner. She claims the same line that HCI puts out about wanting "limited gun control measures." Confiscation does not sound very "limited" to me. ------------------------------------------------------- Michael A.
