As Pete Kassler reinforces, Dr. Gratia Hupp is a strong, principled person worth supporting. She is clearly dedicated to protecting and expanding self-defense rights. The country would be a **lot** better off if more people of her character ran for office. -- Jeff C.] __ Date: Sat, 6 Jan 1996 16:16:06 -0500 From: "The Old Blue Howler" Subject: Suzanna Gratia Hupp Please forward to your group, list or board I heard a piece on the local news, last night, that said Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp is running for the State Legislature in the 54th District of Texas. In case any of you don't recognize the name, she is the survivor of the Luby's Massacre in Kileen, Texas who, instead of crawling into the waiting arms of Sarah Brady, became one of our most articulate Second Amendment Spokes Folks. Her parents were killed in front of her eyes and she couldn't do a thing about it. Instead of whining and sniveling about what a poor, unfortunate victim of gun violence she was, she went on national television and said (paraphrased) "If I'd had my gun in my purse where it belonged instead of my car, I'd have killed the #*x@*%> or died trying and damn all politicians who rob me of my God-given right to defend myself." So I called her, this morning, and asked her if I could put up a notice on the net announcing her candidacy. Dr. Gratia Hupp understands a basic fact of life and probably understands it better than any of us. As I say in one of my sigs: [... -- Jeff C.] "A politician who wants to take your guns is figuring on taking everything you've got." I don't have a clue as to her positions on anything but guns, I didn't ask. Realized after I hung up that I didn't even ask if she was a Democrat or a Republican. I frankly don't care. In the same sense that we went after Tom Foley and helped Mike Foster, I believe we should give Suzanna any help we can with her campaign. If she isn't worthy of our help no one is. You can send a check to The Suzanna Gratia Hupp Campaign P.O. Box 273 Kempner, TX 76539 Mine's already in the mail. __ Forwarded by: -- Jeff Chan mailto:chan@shell.portal.com http://www.portal.com/~chan/ or ftp://ftp.shell.portal.com/pub/chan/ +------------------------------------------------------------------+ | We should measure progress not by how many laws | | can be passed but by how little governing people need. | +------------------------------------------------------------------+ At archive, see: highlights.html and Info Guide: firearms.faq.html firearms, liberty mailing lists: mailto:majordomo@shell.portal.com
