Attached please find a letter written from Richard W. Bodge of ADT
Secutiry Systems, Inc. in response to calls from law-abiding gun
owners who were outraged at an ADT advertisement which implied that
firearms are inherently dangerous.

Thanks to everyone who contacted ADT.  Yours calls made a difference!

and responsible response.

It was my pleasure to speak with you today, to better understand your 
concerns regarding a recent ADT ad featuring a gun.

As I mentioned, given a number of comments we have received, we have 
stopped running this ad.

We have run similar ads on occasion over the past 2-3 years with 
success and virtually no negative comments, however, be it the current 
environment, this ad has not served us in the intended manner. 

ADT Security Systems takes pride in maintaining a positive working 
partnership with the Law Enforcement Community, and we appreciate
this opportunity to ensure you it is our desire that we work in
concert.
